NBA Corner Rookie Galore

Zach you wanted the rookies, you get and more with this post
Fist off a little known fact is the NBA is in them market of picking based off Potential instead of a player that will help you right away. This doesn't always work out well as you will see. and Length and height always seem to be a commodity. I think some teams have to pick based of potential but sometimes I think most GM;s out smart themselves. Let's do this who they picked and who would have I picked
Let's take a look at last year's draft class and see how the picks are panning out

A recap of the 2006 first ten picks

Toronto Barganie. Not a bad choice 7 footer who can shoot. Only problem you already have a real good 7 footer. Brandon Roy should have been the choice. He would have been the guard to go with Bosh. Barganie might end up being the better player in the end. I can admit that, but Roy makes your team better. Overall pick a B- could go as high as A over time or drop to a D for another team picking a Darko like guy
Chicago Aldridge(ended up in Portland)Chicago made the right pick, a guy who could turn into the low post scorer they needed. Instead they trade him for Ty Thomas. I still haven't figure out why. How much better with Chicago look with Aldrigde rooming the middle. Overall A for the pick F for the trade.
Charlotte Morrison You have Gerald Wallace why select Morrison here. No one was even sure his game translated to the NBA. ( i think it will when he gets healthy and ends up on the right team) If the draft was going they way I had it I would have pick Barganie here, but with Barganie gone I would have went with Thomas. Thomas wouldn't have had to score on this team, he could have done all the little athletic stuff he can do. Overall C+ pick
Portland TY Thomas (ended up in Chicago)Thomas wasn't a bad pick for them but the trade was beautiful, Aldridge is the better basketball player. GMs for get that from time to time. the pick overall solid B the trade A+ if it was going the way I would have picked Thomas here.
Atlanta Sheldon Williams You needed a point guard. Joe Johnson is Two guard (nothing wrong with that) this was the second year in a row Atlanta has made wrong choice. Remember they parsed over Paul and Williams for Marvin. They should have went with Foye. he has been hurt a lot but when he has played he has been great. Overall pick F
Minnesota Roy (Ended up in Portland)Great pick most NBA ready baller in this year's draft. I would have taken him 1st. Stupid Trade. if the draft went they way I would have wanted to pick Morrison(couldn't with the way the Wally thing went) but still having KG I would have went with Gay(even though I wasn't a big Gay fan and yes he proved me wrong) Overall pick A+ trade C+ Foye. Foye might turn out to be pretty good.
Boston Foye (ended up In Minasota) Foye was a good pick, In my draft he is already gone. I wouldn't have traded him. here is where I pick Morrison. he is the best player left on the board. Overall pick B+ trade C-
Houston Gay (ended up in Memphis)good pick they trade him for battier to Memphis. I agree with the trade at first but Houston would sure look good with Gay right now. Overall pick solid A trade A(at the time) i would have taken Sheldon Williams here. It still in the long run been a bad pick but that's what I would have done.
Both these teams where looking at potential or looking not to pay their draft choices. People they could have drafted Rodeny Carnery, J.J reddick Rondon Rondo, Marcus Williams or Jordan Farmar.
Golden State O'byrant stupid pick over all F- both
Seattle Sear Sene stupid pick over all F-

2007 draft recap
Portland Greg Oden incomplete but he was the right pick with Roy, Aldridge and Oden the Trailblazers and the next great Western team
Seattle Durant You had to go with this guy here and he hasn't disappointed. he is going to be star in this league once he beefs up and settles into a position
Atlanta Hortford Finally Atlanta got it right. I was screaming for them to take Conley because I saw how Oden Dominated both Hortford and Jo'kim in the NCAA championships. Oden is better and will always be better, bit Hortford is a keeper
Memphis Conley Finally getting starters minutes and Gasol numbers start to go up. That what you want out of a point guard.
Boston Green (ended up in Seattle)He's not disappointing but he's not wowing either. He will more than likely end up as the guy that doesn't make out of the top five. He just seems like an average NBA player
Milwaukee Yi would finish second in the rookie of the year voting and having a nice season. Milwaukee made a great pick here, If Seattle had a do over they would have Boston take Yi and then make the trade.
Minnasota Brewer, My biggest disappoint so far. I really like his game coming out of College I think he can be the closest thing to Scottie Pippen since Scottie Pippen. He hasn't been playing with confidence or using his speed to his advantage.
Golden State Wright Look can we stop taking athletic big man from North Carolina who only played one year of College. He looks lost and can't crack the rotation in Golden state to log heavy minutes. Why didn't they pick Jo'kim
Chicago Jo'Kim What a dumb pick. I know i just said Golden state should have picked him. That because with all his energy and hustle the crowd at Golden State would have loved him and all his weaknesses such has scoring would have been hidden by GS style of play. He will fail in Chicago.
Sacremento Hawes No clue how he has been playing and to be honest don't think he will have a good career. It will be long because he's 7 foot. He' also 19 so maybe he will develop.
Atlanta Law, I thought this was a great pick but he struggling to get minutes. Hopefully he will grow.

Other Rookies making me pay attention to them is Jamario Moon and Glen Big Baby Davis.

Good post JP. Like the look back last year i think its fun to look at the top 10 after a year in the laegue to see where and what the picks could have and should have T-Wolves trading Roy and the Bulls trading Aldridge are two moves that changed the East big time. I mean put roy in Minny and maybe they make the playoffs and KG sticks it out there one more year. The Bulls with Aldridge. I mean a big man always usually takes 1 year of NBA play to develop into a player at any kind of level. But you put him in the line-up they have they are young and exciting. Ty thomas is not what the Bulls needed.

The most intrguing pick of this years top 10 was weather the Hawks go with Yi Conley or Horford. They went with Horford and got AC Law later in the draft so i think they played it right but Yi in Thats hawks line-up looks pretty deadly too a 7 foot jump shooter.
They need to play law more he should be splitting time with Anthony Johnson at point they have got to let him develop or he wont make it.

Finally memphis got it right too how long were they going to not let conley juan carlos navarro and kyle lowery not play to Damon way to old Staudamire. with the worst record in the league last year and going to the "suns offense" this year it should have been a no brainier to let those 3 kids play their hearts out at point and SG.

great post john
checked out the music
you got me, but only on a technicality because they do rap not rock music.

LOVE HORFORD, STARTING TO LOOK A LITTLE LIKE HORACE GRANT(WHO WAS AN ALL STAR ONCE OR TWIECE I THINK) GREAT REBOUNDER AND DEFENDER HOPFULLY SOME TYPE OF LOW POST GAME COMES ALONG.

I GOTTA DISAGREE WITH THE NOAH ASSESMENT, I DO THINK HE'S ON THE WRONG TEAM BUT WITH THAT ENERGY AND RECKLESS ABANDON HE WILL CONTRIBUTE ON ANY TEAM, HE ONLY HAS ONE SPEED I LIKE THAT.

POINT GAURDS IN THIS DRAFT ARE CRAP, I THINK. I REALLY LIKED ACIE LAW AND HOPE HE COMES AROUND. I THINK CONELY WILL FALL IN THE WILLIAM AVERY(DUKE), AND SHAMAD WILLIAMS(UNC), SHOULDN'T HAVE LEFT SO EARLY CUZ POINT GAURDS IN THE NCAA AND THE NBA ARE ENTIRELY DIFFERENT PLAYERS CATEGORY. CAN'T JUST DO IT WITH SPEED YOU NEED SOMETHING ELSE TO OFFER.
I'M LIKING THE BANTER PRODUCED BY THE POSTS THOUGH.
