Finding the big W

This year the story was a little different for the Flying Eagles Flag Football squad. We assembled with new faces, old faces, and new old faces in Ames Iowa looking to gab a foot hold on respectability. Good news for the Eagle Athletic department we found it.

Game one of the day saw the Eagles face the Storm Lake Tornado's. We started on defense and the Cedar Falls scouting department gem Tim "Turkey" Bruno started the eagles off with a interception. In the first offensive play huddle of the day, you could tell the difference with David "Goldenboy" Derryberry just saying to Braden "Baby Buster" Yuak run a fade to the end zone. Braden came down in the end zone and the Eagles were up 6 nothing. John "Not Pictured" Derryberry caught a pass for the one point conversation completing a derryberry to derryberry connection.

The route was on as Scottie "Don't, the mule, jugga blaayz" Smith picked off another pass. The eagles quickly converted it for another score. Back on Defense the Scottie started the tip drill and Not Pictured ended it by snagging the interception and taking it back to the house for 6 more points.

all in all Golden Boy to Baby Buster and the defense which tallied 5 interceptions proved to much for the storm lake tornado's. Final score Eagles 35 Tornado's 0. Game called at Half on the accound of us being too good.

Game notes. Braden cemented his mark as the go to wide out with a number of catches and I believe three touch down grabs. Scottie cemented his defense prowless with two picks and a tip that cause a third interception.

So the Eagles danced their way into the sweet 16 of the flag football tournament.

The second game wasn't as kind to the Eagles, were they ran into a season experienced football team. The Eagles didn't give up which was the case last year, they made the Woodshed team work for scores and Eagles moved the ball of offense but to no avail the eagles run to glory ended in the sweet 16.

The eagles came looking for a win and more experience and that's what they walked away with. Now the athletic department focus turns to basketball in February were their will be shake ups on the roster as Zach and I haggle over the future of the b-ball team.

Thanks again to every one for coming to play and hanging out afterward.
One last thing
We celebrated our win at Pam/Can/Ham's place with the usual good times, music, drinking, games, and exchanging stories. As always you might beat the eagles on the playing field but nobody can beat the eagles off the playing field.

Telling everyone I got the mark on my forehead from fighting a defensive lineman,
